CAR CARE / USEFUL HABITS
Know your vehicle.
Plan its care.
Simple ways to organise your maintenance history and make a service conversation more productive.
01 / THE RIGHT REFERENCE
Start with
your owner’s manual.
Your manufacturer’s maintenance schedule is the starting point for service intervals and specifications. The appropriate schedule can depend on the vehicle and how it is used.
Bring questions about upcoming service to the shop, along with your current mileage.
Routine maintenance ↗02 / A USEFUL HISTORY
Keep a simple
service record.
Save the date, mileage, work performed and supporting invoices for each visit. Keep notes about parts or fluids used when that information is available.
A clear record is more useful than trying to remember the last time something was checked.
03 / DESCRIBE THE CHANGE
Observe first.
Explain clearly.
Make a note of when a new sound, warning light or change in performance occurs. Include whether the engine was cold or warm and what you were doing at the time.
You do not need to guess a diagnosis to ask for help.
Diagnostics enquiries ↗04 / BEFORE A LONG DRIVE
Leave time
to ask questions.
If you are planning a trip, review any outstanding maintenance or repair concerns before your departure date. Contact the shop early to discuss availability.
Tell the shop about any known symptoms and the service history you have.
